Applicants who are retired from the rank of Honorary Lieutenant or Captain Subedar Major (Junior Commissioned Officers) in the Armed Forces are required. They must have passed the Secondary School Certificate Examination with a “C” grade in the second division or an equivalent qualification from a recognized board.

Applicants must also be Lance Havildar Naik, Havildar, or an equivalent rank from retired Armed Forces personnel.
